Laminated wood Guitar picks

hand made by Mike Horne from wood veneers

wooden guitar pick shapes

there are three shapes -

rounded triangle (like Gibson Wedge, Fender 346, Tri-Tip) - roughly 30mm across

standard (like Fender 351) about 25mm at widest point and 30mm long or smaller

small (based on a Jim Dunlop Jazz III) roughly 20mm at widest point and 25mm long (or smaller)

The gauge I would describe as heavy (1.4 to 1.6mm thick) or extra heavy (1.8 to 2,1mm thick) for some of the Jazz picks

There is a variety of woods softwood (probably Maple),stained softwood and hardwoods (including Mahogany, Walnut and Ebony). I am sorry I do not know the names of all the woods. They are all roughly symetrical, but the grain can make them look skewed.

You can change the shape of the point or bevel on the edge with a fine grit sandpaper to suit your preferences, if you wish.

They are made of two or three layers of wood veneer with the grain slightly offset to give them strength. They are not very flexible (if the grain was matched they would break easily. for most of them I have tried to match the grain on both sides, but some are made of different woods on each side.

You are welcome to visit me in Hull to try and choose the ones you like. Or e-mail me with your preferences. Email:- Mike at Zenrocks.karoo.co.uk
