Other Hornes on Orkney
There are not many records of families of Hornes to be found on Orkney in the 18th and early 19th Centuries.
My relatives went there from Caithness and most only stayed there for one generation.
There is a family group on South Ronaldsay.
There is the family of Adam Horn who had come from the mainland to work as a factor on an estate in the parish of Westray and Papa Westray:-
He was married to Isabella Kent and had children -
Fraesor Horn born 8/12/1848
He married Robina Strong on 22/9/1853 and they had children -
(female) Horne born 12/3/1855 (recorded in the parish of Eday and Pharay as well)
Calder Marcus Horne born 11/5/1857
Henry Kirk Horne born 14/11/1865Charles Fraser Horne born 4/6/1868 1855 (recorded in the parish of Eday and Pharay)
Christina Jane Horne born 7/10/1871 1855 (recorded in the parish of Eday and Pharay).
Hamilton Hebden Horne born 9/10/1874 1855 (recorded in the parish of Eday and Pharay)
And then there are a few others:-
Helen Horn and Christian Horn (female) both baptised 4/1/1761 in Sandwick, the children of James Horn and Marjory Kirkness
Richard Horn married Margaret Mure on 14/1/1714 in Kirkwall and St Ola.
James D Horne married M C Rankin 4/6/1864 in Kirkwall and St Ola.
Ann Horn married John Short on 20/7/1847 at Ophir
Adam Horne married Elizabeth Adams on 18/5/11848 at Ophir
Anne Horne married James Corston on 18/9/1850 at Ophir
William Horne married Mary Davie on 19/8/1844 at Firth and Stenness
